I am about to board the helicopter to Tselinoyarsk; at the orders of my superior officer. He is responding to the request of General Olavyenko, a comrade of equivalent rank in a lateral organization. Background will be filled in as available once we are airborne.
Olavyenko demanded an outside military police presence from a commensurate authority, and he is right to insist. I have no iron in the fire here, or at this Groznyj Grad.
I do not know the man I am to be traveling with. He is apparently a GRU science officer, and a forensics expert of some kind.
He is here because GRU could never stand to fully trust Internal Service with sensitive investigations.
I am here because GRU cannot trust itself.
...
I have never been on a joint objective between Osnaz and Spetsnaz, although I know they do happen now and then. Here's hoping he isn't too military.
